RAID for Trading Computers – Increase Data Protection and System Performance by Using a Redundant Array of Independent Disks

Most desktops trading computers have the ability to utilize a Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) to help users to protect their pc against data loss and enhance system performance in data intensive operations like data processing, mathemalical calculations, video editing, CD/DVD creation, virus scanning, PC gaming or data backup. Much too often very critical information is lost due to computer hard drive failures and poor data protection habits.

The data can be accessed much faster when set up this way. Keep in mind a RAID 0 configuration does not back up the data like a RAID 1 array does. The performance oriented data mapping technique of “striping” divides the data array into “stripes” across the set of disks for much faster access than could be achieved conventionally.

For both protection and performance a mix of data protection and enhanced hard drive access performance can be achieved by using RAID 5 and RAID 10 volumes across an array of SATA hard disks.
